string gardens

I have recently come to the conclusion that the biggest downside to owning a house is gardening—for me, anyway. I hate it. I dread it. I do whatever I can to get out of it. However, given that May is nearing an end, and the weeds in our side garden were encroaching on my own height, it was time to get out the trowel. Those prickly, spiny, unfortunately placed little weedy plants never saw it coming.

In honor of the merciless massacre of the weeds in my garden, I'm going to share with you this breathtaking string garden. It's so amazingly ethereal. It reminds me of something out of a Tim Burton film! Prepare to be utterly blown away—even if you're a garden hating little Grinch like myself!

Be sure to check out the string garden website for more mind-blowing images.

This probably won't be the last time you read mention of me&mountains on this blog. My husband has played keyboard in this band for about a year now, and it has become a very bright little nugget in our lives. The guys in the band are awesome, and their ladies have become some of my closest friends.

They had an interview for the paper last week, and needed a promotional photograph. Crap! So we ran across the street to the park, I scaled the swingset slide, and captured a decent shot to send along to the good peeps at the Dayton Daily News.

Then, because designing is what I do, I fancied it up! Not sure if they'll ever use it, but I assuaged my Photoshop itch for a day. This is the final product (the hubbs is the handsome one in the back with glasses and hat):
