heads up for a giveaway!

One of my all-time favorite blogs is Elephantine. The author, Rachel, curates the cutest daily online finds, and condenses them into an easily digestible quad-set of images. Sometimes she throws in amusing anecdotes from her day, too. The combination has me checking in frequently for great inspiration.... Oh, and did I mention she sells her own fabulous jewelry?

Elephantine has a fantastic giveaway going on with the Etsy shop, Taylor House Knits. Skip on over for your chance to win a $15 gift certificate to put toward one of Taylor House's gorgeous Cowls!

when the going gets tough... the tough get bejeweled bandaids!

By Cynthia Rowley, of course!

like falling into a fairy tale

Today I found the online home for the artwork of Krista Hout. Instantly I fell in love with her romantic illustration style. There's such a sweetness to her work that is undercut by a delicate hint of sinister. I could spend hours gazing at her illustrations, each piece weaving such elegant stories. It's no surprise she has exhibited at galleries all over the United States.

Have a gander, and let your imagination take you away. This first work is available in her Etsy shop.

They're making some big plans in my little hometown of Dayton. This makes me super excited for the future and livelihood of my city. I hope you're feeling a little bit of hometown pride this friday, too! Have a lovely weekend, guys!

Giveaway! Giveaway!

Looking for another reason to be happy it's Friday? I have one for you. Hop on over to Mandy's Yellow Corner for a chance at one of my Yellowberry necklaces, priced $20 or under, for FREE! Go leave her a comment and maybe you'll be the lucky one. Aside from having impeccable color taste and being a super sweet girl, Mandy muses about what's up in her world, her creations, and some really lovely jewelry that she sells herself on Etsy. My favorites are her rosette bib necklaces:

Poketo Meet Up

Well, the Grand Poketo Target Meet-Up of Dayton, OH was a little, um, less than grand. As in, two of us showed to bask in the creative glory that is Poketo. What can I say? We have very busy friends! Lackluster attendance aside, Rachael and I had a pretty swell time on our lonesomes. Here's a a couple of pics of the Poketo Awesomeness.

I picked up that adorable little triangle wallet for myself :)
Rachael looks as cute as the fancy black & white bag she's sporting.Such a neat little laptop case.
I love these pouches. They are so different but complement each other so well.
I love owls!

quotabili-tee :: just love

This is a BIG weekend for me (aren't they all)! Tonight, my husband and I are celebrating our TEN YEAR Dating Anniversary! We're going out to a fancy restaurant to celebrate with lots of wine and fondue. If you want to hear me gush about my relationship with my husband, check out my post on my other blog.

As I talked about earlier, tomorrow is our informal Poketo meet-up. Super excited for any excuse to go to Target. Then on Sunday, the Hubbs and I will be running our first ever 5k together. To make that whole thing even more exciting, it's taking place at King's Island! A first race and an amusement park. It doesn't get any more exciting than that... Well, not until you add King's Island's famous blueberry ice cream! I think I will have earned it after an early morning 3.1 mile run.

Happy weekend, everybody!

do you Poketo?

Poketo (pronounced like pocket-o) is a design studio from LA that features limited edition art products by the most talented designers and artists from allover this globe. As Target so often does, they recognized the pure genius behind this brand and snapped them up. They just started stocking their accessories in stores all over the country.

I read alot of blogs, so I had a heads up that this was happening, but my jaw hit the floor when I saw their wonderful products in person! The colors, patterns and illustrations were overwhelmingly awesome! I was on my lunch break so shopping and decision-making time was severely limited. I ended up walking away with only a luggage tag. LAME... But I shall have my redemption! As luck would have it, Poketo "meet-ups" are being organized across the United States. If you're fortunate enough to live in LA or NYC (which I am not) some huge bashes are being planned, complete with ice cream trucks and all! I am extremely jealous.

My dear friend, Rachael, has taken it upon herself to organize one at our local Target in little ol' Dayton, OH. So far, we've committed to a formidable number of 7 attendees. Look out New York, we're taking over! I guess the plan is to gather in the accessories dept. and take lots of pictures of ourselves and Poketo's amazing wares. Then we'll go forth and spread the word on our blogs and social networking sites. So keep your eyes peeled for my little Poketo download.

If you're from the Dayton/Cincinnati area and are interested in meeting up with us, we'll be at the Dayton Mall Target store on Saturday 8/14 at 1:00 pm. You can view the open invite and deets on facebook.

Here's a round up of my faves from the Target website.

IKEA catalog for 2011

Just thought you might like to know the new 2011 IKEA catalog is available! I've ordered my copy and am anxiously awaiting its arrival so that I can pour over it and dog ear it and drag it along everywhere I go. In the meantime, I'll content myself with flipping through the virtual copy. I've "snipped" a couple of my favorites here.

I'm so into the whole monochromatic white interior thing right now. There's just something so calming about a simplistic and fresh white coat of paint.
This kitchen feels like home to me. Again, it has that fresh pop of white, but it's accented with warm brights and that tiled backsplash adds a major point of interest that keeps it from being anything but boring.
Then I'd probably have to set the table with those blue & white dishes.
I love the hand-drawn lines on these artist series textiles.
This entryway reminds me a lot of my own. We already own one of these great Hemnes shoe cabinets, and our staircase is decorated with lots of our favorite photos and artwork. I think I just wish it was larger like this! And the little wiener dog would make a cute addition (don't kill me, husband).
Finally, one more kitchen. The visible storage won me over.
