in-flight drawing :: snow white

As my airplane was taxiing the tarmac today, the screen nestled in the back of seat in front of me silently flashed one commercial after another. Apparently on Continental flights, they play all sorts of great shows and movies, but you can't watch them without swiping a credit card and forfeiting over $8. Way to be lame, Continental. I'm not sure exactly what it was a preview for, but I glanced up in time to see a blood red apple fall to the ground.

Immediately Snow White came to mind. Then I remembered all the storybook style, super-detailed illustrations that I use to do in junior high. Knowing I was quite the captive creator at this point, I pulled out my blue ball-point pen and notebook, channeled my inner 8th grader, and hunkered down for the cross-country flight. A couple hours later, I had a close to completed, highly detailed composition.  Maybe I should thank Continental? If they hadn't been so stingy, I might not have had the ambition to do this!

(By the way, ever read the original Snow White by the Brothers Grimm? Here's Wiki's synopsis. Intriguingly morbid!)

Perhaps her hair could be much darker... I'll work on that on my flight home!
